Good Luck D.C.

Overall Washington D.C. has come along way in the fashion industry and it continues to grow everyday. It has really inspired me and probably many others to open up a boutique in this eclectic area. So far the city may not measure up to New York or Paris but D.C.deffenetly has all off the good qualities to make the town a fashion capitol. Washington D.C. just needs to keep growing.

D.C. Fashion Week

Another surprising fashion event that I didn't know D.C. had was D.C. Fashion Week. D.C. fashion week is trying to establish Washington as the center of international fashion. Just in February 2010 many countries participated in D.C. fashion week. The countries that participated were Argentina, Cote d'Ivorie, Colombia, Ghana, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Serbia, Thailand, and the United States. This was D.C.'s 12th fashion week they have ever done. Some of the companies that participated were Andrew Nowell Menswear, Artemiza Cruz for Lavill, Kalaa, and many more.

FW

Washington D.C. has lots of important news papers like The Washington Times and The Washington Post but did you know that D.C. has its very own fashion magazine. The D.C. fashion magazine is simple called FW, short for Fashion.Washington. So Chic!, I absolutely love it. FW makes a good point about fashion. FW says "When people think of fashion, they think of Coco Chanel in Paris, Donna Karan in New York or red carpet-walking celebs in L.A. But Washington also deserves recognition as a style capital." In the past this meant Jackie Kennedy in jeweled ball gowns at White House dinners. But these days D.C. is all about a chic, international glamour, with haute boutiques catering to a great clientele. A handful of designers call the area home. Fashion Washington is a new magazine from Washington Post media. The scene in D.C. is increasingly stylish from trend setting diplomats and star studded parties, to fab jewelry lines and store openings. In this magazine you will see the hottest and prettiest new styles. You will also read about the interesting cast of characters including designers, shop owners and famous faces that are making D.C. a hip place to be.
